Canopy Stories is a collaborative film anthology that highlights the talent, perspective, and artistic vision of twelve Portland area filmmakers. Each filmmaker has selected a specific tree to tell a story about human relationships to nature and the city. The diversity of the stories and the trees do not reflect a singular editorial voice or vision. Rather, the individual films emphasize the many ways in which humans relate to urban trees. (The trailer was edited by Jesse Clark.) My contribution to the anthology is entitled "One Magnificent Maple." |

Arbor Opera Theater - Director Shawn McDonald has adapted Giuseppe Verdi's classic opera, "La Traviata" to make it fresh and relevant to today's discerning audiences. For this adaptation, AOT partnered with the National Network of Depression Centers to craft a compelling story that sheds light on the stigma surrounding mental illness. After originally airing on Detroit Public Television's "Detroit Performs," this piece was picked up to air in PBS markets across the country. Detroit Puppet Theater - I've driven past the Detroit Puppet Theater in downtown Detroit for years and I've always wondered about the place. I saw a short piece about the theater on the local CBS news affiliate in Detroit, and I thought it was a wonderful story. So, I wanted to do a more in-depth piece that would show people more of what the Detroit Puppet Theater has to offer. I highly recommend that you talk to Igor Gozman about his career in puppetry if you get the chance!

Third Coast Kings - The Third Coast Kings are an original funk band from Detroit that will make you want to get up and move! This segment aired on an Emmy Award-winning episode of Detroit Public Television's (PBS) "Detroit Performs." Matthew Brunn and I provided the camerawork, I recorded all of the audio, and Tina Brunn edited the project. Enjoy! |

Rising Pheasant Farms - Rising Pheasant Farms is a family-owned urban farm in Detroit that delivers all of their produce to market by bicycle. I came across their story when I was shooting a short piece on Detroit's Eastern Market, and I wanted to share it with the wider community. Rising Pheasant Farms is a shining example of how Detroit's vacant land can be used to benefit the community and the city as a whole. After originally airing on Detroit Public Television's "Detroit Performs," this piece was picked up to air in PBS markets across the country. |

Sharper Image - This telescoping selfie arm video is one example of the more than 200 videos that I created for SharperImage.com over a three-year period. I did the lighting, camerawork, audio recording, and editing myself, often turning around as many as 30 videos from production to completion in one week. SharperImage.com is THE place to shop for all of your gadget needs! |

Feel Grand - Feel Grand with Jane Seymour is a nationally distributed American Public Television series hosted by actress, artist, and health advocate Jane Seymour. It features the country's top physicians discussing what we need to know about aging, preventing illness, what to do if illness strikes, and most importantly, how to get the most out of the grandest time of our lives. I worked with a top-notch lighting crew to create the lighting design for this series. |

Daniel O'Donnell Music and Memories - A 13-part series showcasing highlights from Daniel's PBS specials over the years. Chris Jordan and I created the lighting design for Daniel's wrap-arounds. |

Internal Combustion - Director Steve Faigenbaum returned to Detroit after a 25 year absence. Realizing he had witnessed a slow motion catastrophe, he searched for the roots of the collapse of America’s once mighty industrial capital. The film is a stark reminder that our cities and our way of life are not immortal. I was the gaffer on this film, which was funded by the French government.
